
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results for candidates who sat for the 2025 WASSCE for School Candidates, with over 461,000 students taking part in this year’s examination.
In a statement issued by the Council, WAEC announced that login details have been made available to Heads of Schools to enable them to access their candidates’ results. Candidates can also check their individual results online via the Council’s official website.
WAEC further urged the public to beware of fraudsters who claim they can upgrade results for a fee, stressing that its results are secured and verifiable through its digital verification system.
Performance and Participation
A total of 461,736 candidates from 1,021 schools registered for the examination. This figure includes 207,415 males and 254,321 females, reflecting steady participation across the country.
Sanctions for Examination Irregularities
WAEC revealed that the Ghana Examinations Committee, at its 40th meeting on November 17, 2025, approved several sanctions following investigations into reported cases of malpractice. These include:
Cancellation of subject results of 6,295 candidates for possessing foreign materials such as prepared notes and textbooks in examination halls.
Cancellation of entire results of 653 candidates for possession of mobile phones.
Withholding of subject results of 908 candidates and entire results of 158 candidates pending further investigation.
Additionally, subject results from 185 schools have been withheld over alleged collusion, with WAEC assuring the public that outcomes of investigations will be finalized before the end of December 2025.
Crackdown on Examination Offenders
The Council also disclosed that 35 individuals, including 19 teachers, were found to have engaged in acts that compromised the integrity of the examination.
19 have already been arraigned, receiving fines or prison sentences.
16 others are yet to be presented in court by the police.
WAEC added that teachers involved in the malpractice will be reported to the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) for further disciplinary action.
