The Ghana Police Service has apprehended six students from Aggrey Memorial Senior High School following a violent assault on a final-year student of Adisadel College.

The incident, which occurred in the wake of an inter-colleges sports festival, has left the victim with injuries and sparked a regional investigation.

On Friday, February 20, 2026, at approximately 3:30 p.m., the victim, identified as Rexford Owusu-Ansah was returning to campus with two friends after the final day of sports activities at the Cape Coast Stadium.

According to police reports, the group was intercepted at Pedu Junction by the suspects. The attackers allegedly stopped the trio to confirm their affiliation with Adisadel College before launching a targeted assault. While Owusu-Ansah’s friends managed to escape the scene, he was overpowered, kicked to the ground, and severely beaten.

The Central Regional Police Command strongly condemns the violence and assures the public that due process will be followed as the juvenile offenders will face the full rigours of the law,” the statement concluded.
