Versatile Ghanaian singer Kelvin Boy has expressed excitement about the growing enthusiasm surrounding this year’s Ghana Month celebrations, praising Ghanaians for proudly embracing local identity and culture.
Speaking on the pre-Independence Day edition of The Afternoon Show on TV3, monitored by entertainment journalist Joseph Owusu Worae, the ‘Vero’ hitmaker said he is impressed by the energy and unity that have characterised the celebrations so far.
“I’m excited about the fact that this year’s Ghana Month has been held down very well. I like the whole vibe around it, especially with the jersey trend,” he said.

Over the past few weeks, many Ghanaians—both young and old, have been spotted wearing the Ghana national team jersey as a symbol of patriotism and cultural pride during the month-long celebration.

According to Kelvin Boy, the trend reflects a renewed sense of national pride among citizens.
“A lot of people are wearing the Ghana jersey with pride, and that’s the way to go. The Ghana jersey trend, I’m really excited about it,” he added.

However, the singer is not enthused about the rising cost of the jerseys, suggesting that some vendors may be taking advantage of the trend to increase prices.

“I hear people are selling the Ghana jersey for about GH¢1,500 and things.”
While he applauded the patriotic spirit behind the trend, the ‘Down Flat’ singer wants sellers to ensure that the jerseys remain affordable, so more Ghanaians can participate in the celebration.
