Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and the CDS visit survivors of the Burkina Faso attack, assuring them of full government support.

The government has pledged full support to survivors of the recent Burkina Faso terrorist attack, promising to cover all medical bills and provide comprehensive care.

The assurances were made during a visit by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and the Military High Command, led by the Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General William Agyapong, to the 37 Military Hospital on Thursday, February 19, 2026.

The victims were among a group of Ghanaian tomato traders travelling on a truck that was ambushed by armed assailants. Reports indicate that the attackers lined up the men on board, killed them, and set the vehicle ablaze.

In a Facebook post on Friday, February 20, the Ghana Armed Forces said that the officials encouraged the survivors and wished them a speedy recovery.

“The high-ranking officials assured the survivors of the best medical care, adding that their bills would be absorbed by the government,” the statement said.

Seven Ghanaians who lost their lives in the attack have already been buried. The survivors were airlifted home by the Ghana Armed Forces and are currently receiving medical care and counselling to aid their recovery.
